Provenance

These three collars of the Order of the Holy Spirit come from the Bourbon-Parma family, the Italian cadet branch of the House of Bourbon, directly descending from the Count of Chambord, known as Henri V, like the three collars that were sold at auction on March 25, 2022 by the Crédit municipal de Paris for record prices. These are the last three collars that will be offered at auction from this branch.

These collars are probably part, for one (lot 2), of the thirty collars delivered by Cahier, Biennais' successor, and for the other two (lots 1 and 3), of the fifty delivered by Ouizille & Lemoine, on the occasion of the coronation of His Majesty Charles X on May 30, 1825 in Reims. Although they are part of the thirty or so necklaces returned to the Count of Chambord in Frohsdorf, we cannot unfortunately know the identity of their recipient, the necklaces being identical and no label or particular handwritten mention being

present on this set. We can simply mention that Henry V kept, among others, the necklaces of King Charles X himself or that of the Dauphin, Duke of Angoulême.
