RUSSIA, circa 1900
A crystal circular pill box, baluster on the edges and finely cut with gadroons. A 56 zolotniks (583 ‰) gold mount set with diamond roses and a sculpted rock crystal elephant set on a circular chased gold base imitating earth, bordered with ray motifs set with alternating diamonds, rubies and sapphires. A gold base medal from the first All-Russian Hygienic Exhibition in St. Petersburg in 1893.

Maker: Edward Schramm (active 1895-1916), goldsmith and jeweler who worked for Carl Fabergé.
