Rare icon of the Great Martyr Saint Pantaleon (Panteleimon) of Nicomedia.
Tempera on wood, in its important basma in vermeil 84 zolotniks (875‰) with embossed decoration of a seedling of scales and medallions containing plants in the Art Nouveau style, the lower edge engraved with the Cyrillic inscription D' after the design of the architect Vladimir Pokrovsky 1909.
The sides engraved with prayers in Old Russian and the back covered in red velvet.
Slight wear to the paint on the legs of the saint due to the heat of a candle.

Vladimir Alexandrovich Pokrovsky (1871-1931) is a famous architect and architectural historian recognized as one of the leading figures of the Neo-Russian style. Among its notable achievements, the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Parkhomovka, in the province of kyiv remains to this day an emblematic building as does the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Tsarskoye Selo, or the Church of Saints apostles Peter and Paul in the powder factories of Schlisselburg (1903-1907) which could not be preserved.
